The Temple of Forgiveness

A 4-Day Ceremonial Journey into the Heart of Ancestral Medicine

Sentinel Retreat Center ~ Kaslo, BC

You carry more than your own life in your body.

You carry the ones who came before, their courage and their wounds, their prayers and their silences, the love they knew how to give and the love they never learned to. It lives in your blood. It shapes the way you flinch and the way you reach, the fears you cannot quite explain, the gifts you were born already knowing. None of us arrives alone. We arrive as the living edge of a long, long line.

For seven years, we have gathered each November to tend that line. It is the season the old cultures across the Earth have always kept — Samhain, El Día de los Muertos, All Hallow’s Eve — when the veil grows thin, the light draws down, and the ancestors move close. Many meet this darkening time with distraction. The ancient mystery schools knew it as something else entirely: a sacred initiation in the turning of the year, a gateway of remembrance, reverence, and ritual. And every year, without fail, something profound moves through this ceremony — because there is so much healing waiting in the roots of our people, and because the roots are also where our deepest medicine is kept.

This year, we enter the Temple of Forgiveness… which is the only path to true Freedom in this life.

Forgiveness is the great liberation within the Way of Love & the Rose Path, and it is the most misunderstood. It does not mean condoning what was harmful, or denying what was real, or returning to what is not safe. It means refusing to let the old wound keep writing the next chapter of your life. In the ancient Aramaic prayer, the words are not about debts and accounts. They are tender: “Forgive our secret fears, as we freely choose to forgive the secret fears of others.” Because harm, at its root, is always fear in motion, the fear one generation could not metabolize, handed to the next. To forgive at this depth is to reach into the bloodline and release the fear-pattern itself, backward and forward at once. Freeing the ones who came before. Freeing the ones not yet born.

And then because a line is never only its wounds, we turn to celebration.

We will honor the gifts. The resilience that survived so you could stand here. The hands that worked, the songs that were kept, the beauty that came down through the generations to arrive, at last, in you. We will feast. We will remember. We will bless. Because to be human, to be alive, to be the flowering of an ancient line is a staggering gift and it deserves reverence and rejoicing.

Come home to your ancestors. Lay down what is no longer yours to carry. Take up the blessing that always was.

What This Retreat Is

The Temple of Forgiveness is a four-day ceremonial retreat of tending the deep roots and the vast sky of the Ancestors.

The descent — the work of forgiveness. We go down into the roots, into the inherited grief and the secret fears carried in the line, and we return them to the fire of Love. This is the alchemy that judgment can never accomplish. It is done gently, with deep containment, in the company of the Rose and the guides and one another.

The rising — the work of integration, blessing, and celebration. Once the line is unburdened, we let the body receive what the soul has moved: through gentle movement, shared circle, nourishment, and rest, we honor everything the line gave us and give our thanks. Beauty opens to Gratitude; Gratitude awakens to Love. This is the signature practice of the Way of Love, and here it becomes the doorway from healing into joy — and a blessing sent forward to the descendants who will one day carry our names.

Held on the land of The Sentinel in the descent-season of November, this is both sacred and practical, both grief-tending and celebration, both solemn and alive. Through it all we remember what this season has always taught: that life and death are not separate.

The Teaching Beneath It

In the Way of Love, Forgiveness is the fifth petal of the six-petaled Rose, and Love is the master energy at the center of them all. The Forgiveness petal teaches a specific and liberating truth: harm is always fear in motion.

This changes everything about how we forgive our ancestors. We are not asked to call the harm acceptable. We are invited to release the fear-pattern at its root — the secret fear that traveled down the generations looking for a heart brave enough to finally set it down. And the work reaches wider still, to the secret fears of empire: the inherited distortions of the systems our ancestors were shaped by and survived. These, too, are met not with more judgment — for if judgment alone could heal them, they would have been healed millennia ago — but with the alchemy of Love.

True forgiveness, in the end, becomes a posture the heart can finally afford: I want to be free, and liberated, and in service, more than I want to be right.

What We Will Explore Together

  • What have you been carrying that was never yours to carry?
  • What are the gifts of your ancestral legacy?
  • What secret fears have traveled down your line, longing at last to be set down?
  • How can you cultivate a deeper, felt connection to the Ancestors?
  • What gifts and blessings do the Ancestors offer, and how can you align with them?
  • What medicine lives in your heart to bring to your life and to this Earth?
  • How can remembering — and forgiving — the Ancestors free the unique medicine you carry forward?

The Journey — Four Days in the Temple

Friday, November 6 · Entering the Temple

  • 9–10am · Arrival
  • 10am–12:30pm · Opening Circle
  • 12:30–1:30pm · Lunch
  • 2–8pm · Teachings & Ceremonial Communion with Forest Medicine & Rose

We gather as the season draws the light down. In the Opening Circle we consecrate the container and call in the guides, the plant allies, and the lineages of all who are present. Then, across the long afternoon and into evening, we enter the teachings and a ceremonial communion with the Forest Medicine and the Rose — the heart-allies who accompany this whole journey.

Saturday, November 7 · The Mesada of Forgiveness

  • 9:30am · Daytime Heart Medicine Ceremony of Forgiveness
  • 7pm · Dinner

The heart of the retreat: a full-day Mesada of Love — the mesa ceremony of the Pachakuti Mesa lineage, held in the medicine of Love. Here we walk the work of forgiveness — the secret fears carried in the line, the four directions of forgiving (the ancestors, ourselves, and the freeing of our descendants) — and return to the fire of Love what the blood can no longer afford to carry.  We close the long day into a shared dinner in community.

Sunday, November 8 · Integration & Embodiment

  • 9am · Tea & Smoothies
  • 9:30–11am · Movement Practice
  • 11am–12pm · Brunch
  • 12–3pm · Integration Circle
  • 3–8pm · Personal Integration + Spa Time + Optional Bodywork
  • 6pm · Dinner

After the depth of the Mesada, the body integrates what the soul has moved. We begin gently — nourishment and a Movement Practice to let the medicine settle into the flesh — then gather in an Integration Circle to honor and give voice to what came through. The afternoon opens into personal integration and optional bodywork, closing in a shared evening meal. This is where gratitude and celebration live: embodied, communal, and unhurried.

Monday, November 9 · Sealing & Return

  • 8–9am · Breakfast
  • 9am–12:30pm · Closing Circle
  • 12:30pm · Departure

Who This Is For

This retreat is for you if you feel the weight — or the calling — of your lineage: if you sense there is grief, pattern, or silence in your line asking to be met, and gifts in your line asking to be honoured. It is for those walking the Way of Love and those newly drawn to this work. It is for healers, visionaries, and heart-centered people longing to lay down what was never theirs to carry, and to take up the blessing of belonging to something older and larger than themselves.

No prior experience is required — only a willing heart and a readiness to be tender with your own roots. (Note: this is deep ancestral and grief work held in ceremony; if you are in acute crisis, we’re glad to talk with you about timing and fit.)
